Jana Longacre
LCSW, LIMHP
I graduated in 2007 with a Master's in Social Work from Arizona State University, as my second career, after working in crisis centers and helping manage my husband's printing business. In Arizona, I worked with children in crisis for 8 years, then 3 years with adults who have experienced trauma. I completed my EMDR training in 2017 and have been using this technique with clients ever since. I moved to the heartland of Nebraska in 2019, and now focus on supporting adults to move through difficult experiences to create fuller, more joyful lives. I take a collaborative approach with my clients, working together and trusting my clients' wisdom to find their hope and healing.
I specialize in EMDR therapy to address issues such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, grief & loss, and difficulty maintaining healthy relationships. Most of my clients have tried other therapies before and felt like it didn't truly help in the ways they hoped. EMDR therapy can be a great strategy. It doesn't require talking in detail about the distressing issue, but instead, allows the brain to resume its natural healing process, and often more quickly than other psychotherapies.

Sarah Spellbrink
LIMHP
I believe all people have a desire to grow and develop into who they were created to be and I am privileged as a mental health professional to walk alongside individuals, couples and families as they pursue health, healing and purpose in life.
I am a licensed independent mental health practitioner and work with individuals, couples, families and groups. I engage in counseling with children, adolescents, and adults struggling with a variety of concerns including the effects of trauma, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, relationship issues, grief/loss, parenting, and family/marital conflict. I specialize in helping people who have been impacted by trauma to process the thoughts and feelings related to their past experiences and develop a positive sense of self, meaningful relationships in the present, and hope for their future. I define trauma as any experience that has had lasting negative impact on a person. So much of the anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, body image issues, substance abuse, etc. that clients struggle with are related to unresolved thoughts and emotions connected to past experiences.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from UNL in 2003 and in 2006 received my Master’s Degree in Counseling from UNK. I utilize an integrative approach within my work with clients, which means I tailor my approach to each individual client’s needs, preferences, and counseling goals as opposed to only utilizing one approach. I am trained in various therapeutic modalities including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Sidebar, there are a LOT of acronyms in the world of psychology!!
As someone who specializes in working with trauma survivors, I frequently engage clients in a type of therapy called EMDR, which helps clients resolve emotions, negative beliefs about themselves and behavioral patterns related to past trauma, allowing them to come to a deeper sense of who they are, including confidence in their strengths and gifts as well as acceptance of their imperfections. EMDR is the best tool I’ve found for helping people resolve their past and truly move forward into a new chapter of life. For more information about EMDR go to emdria.org.
In my personal life, I’m a wife, a mother, a reader, a sports fan and a huge fan of movie series (Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, The Avengers, The Chronicles of Narnia, this list could go on and on…I’m a nerd at heart!) I love Jesus and greatly enjoy working with clients from a Christian perspective if that fits for the person, particularly helping those struggling with accepting God’s love for them and who desire to have a deeper, more intimate relationship with God. I regularly engage in Bible study, sing on the worship team at my local church and help with Sunday school.

Emily Mertens
LIMHP, CMFT, PLDAC
I am a mental health therapist in Kearney, NE with over 10 years of experience in the field. I was trained in EMDR in 2015 and over the years have found EMDR to be very effective in helping clients in the healing process. So many of my clients have come to me at rock bottom and through our work together were able to restore hope for their future.
I specialize in working with clients who are struggling from traumatic and distressing events. I primarily utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in conjunction with other therapeutic techniques.
Why work with me?
I get it. Not only do I have 10 years of experience helping people through their experiences, years ago I went through the healing journey with EMDR as the client. That's how I know it can work!
Life CAN get better! You CAN have amazing relationships and reach your goals.
My passion comes from the gratitude that I feel from being helped through my own tough times and the privilege of being able to help others make it through their tough times. To be a good therapist I believe we have to have done our own work to be in a place to best help our clients.
Michael Keegan
LIMHP
Somatic Experiencing, Post Induction Therapy, ART. My name is Mike Keegan, and I am licensed as an Independent Mental Health Practitioner in Nebraska. I help people process underlying trauma that leads to anxiety, depression, relational issues, and addictions. I utilize Somatic Experiencing, the Meadow's model, and other various trauma-informed approaches.
Having spent time as a client in therapy myself, I understand the difficulty of taking each step along the path towards healing that my clients are taking. I have gratitude for their trust in sharing their journey with me.
Therapy is my third career following my service on active duty in the Army. I chose therapy as a profession because the part I loved most about my previous careers was the ability to get to know and connect with people.
My personal goal in each session is to have you leave with a more regulated nervous system than you entered with. My long-term goal is to help you finish therapy, equipped to be more comfortable with yourself and with your life as soon as possible.
Betty Johnson
LIMHP, LADC
At times, everyone needs refuge from the storm, a comforting and safe place to unload, and inspiration to move ahead. I empathize with you, as I have faced and overcome many of the same battles as you. Many of us struggle with traumatic events in our lives that are overwhelming. Many of us have addictions that cause chaos and destruction. We want to rise above these issues and find peace. We can do this together. Cada persona, tarde o temprano, necesita un refugio, un lugar seguro donde se puede desahogarse. Aqui esta el lugar, conmigo. Yo entiendo sus batallas porque yo he luchado y superado muchos de los mismos problemas.
I have 34 years’ experience as a therapist licensed in both addictions and mental health. I am very fond of the arts and creativity, so sessions not only include conversing, but also play, art and music therapy, storytelling, empty chair techniques and gestalt "action therapy." I specialize in EMDR therapy which is excellent for working through deep trauma.
Matt Fosket
MA, LIMHP, NCC, TF-CBT, AF-CBT, PCIT, EMDR
I enjoy working to build connections between you and the people that matter. My personal experience as a husband and parent influences my intentions as I help families strengthen their relationships. My role as a parent affects how I relate to my clients as I lean into my personal experiences, parenting children both adopted and biological, including the challenges of parenting teens.
As a male therapist, I recognize the value that therapy can have for all people, including men. Men are often reluctant to initiate therapy services, often leaving symptoms untreated or turning to unhealthy strategies to cope with their struggles. I hope to lessen the stigma and provide therapeutic services for adolescent and adult men as you seek to improve your well-being.

While having and developing a skill set in evidence-based practices is an important attribute to being a therapist, I believe that developing an ability to respond to people authentically is the most important way people get their needs met.
Over time I have gained multiple disciplines that have allowed me to discover who I want to be, therefore guiding my clients towards discovering who they want to be simply by educating them and being in it with them as they discover what’s next for them.
